B 3 – James Carrington
The Dragon Kimono and Geisha Wig
Thursday and Friday. Teaching language is English.
No longer do you have to buy an expensive machine or set up a heating chamber to metal foil fabrics. This method, with a readily available adhesive and foils, gives the perfect result that doesn’t affect the drape of the silk. And not just for textiles in scale, you can use it later on wood, metal and even your own clothing.
In this class you’ll learn to partly assemble an outdoor Kimono before you transfer the design to the silk, then apply the glue and allow it to cure. Once cured the glue remains very sticky and we apply the choice of metallic foil with the back of a spoon. Peeling the foil off leaves a perfectly shiny and very metallic line in very slightly raised design.
Layers of different foils can be applied stage by stage to create unique effects and other designs will be made available.
When finished the kimono can be used as a simple wall hanging but will also fit almost any figure you have to hand.
Then we’ll complete the removable wig and dress it with an assortment of jewels and flowers suitable to each student.
For all skill levels.
